ABOUT ME
THERAPIST & COACH
MONIKA JANHUNEN
My name is Monika Janhunen, and I am a qualified Solution-Focused Therapist and Solution-Focused Coach, certified by the International Alliance of Solution-Focused Teaching Institutes (IAST).
I am also a wellbeing and psychosocial skills trainer.
I offer individual Solution-Focused Therapy sessions, providing both short- and medium-term support. My work is informed by a range of evidence-based methods and interventions, including tools from positive psychology.
I believe that lasting change begins with recognising your strengths and building on what is already working. Rather than focusing on problems, I help clients discover their resources and translate them into meaningful, sustainable changes in everyday life.
My approach centres on each person’s potential, resilience, and creativity. Together, we explore solutions that feel authentic and achievable, creating new ways of thinking that focus on possibilities rather than limitations.
Outside my professional work, I am a happy wife and mother of two grown-up sons. I enjoy spending time in nature, and movement is an important part of my life. I practise yoga and Pilates regularly and am also a certified Vinyasa Yoga instructor.
HOW I WORK
My Approach
Strengths & Personal Agency
I help you recognise and strengthen your inner resources, confidence, and sense of agency. You define the goals, and together we find the path towards them.
Positive Psychology
I integrate evidence-based positive psychology tools, practical exercises, and between-session activities that encourage new experiences, fresh perspectives, and lasting personal growth.
Warmth & Authenticity
I believe meaningful change happens in a safe and genuine relationship. I often use metaphor, creativity, and gentle humour to make the therapeutic process engaging, supportive, and accessible.
A Personalised Approach
Every person is unique. I tailor each session to your individual needs, strengths, goals, and circumstances, ensuring our work together is relevant and meaningful.
- My work is grounded in Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), where your motivation, strengths, and resources are the foundation for change.
- Together, we explore what is already working, build your confidence and sense of agency, and identify practical steps towards your goals.
- I also draw on positive psychology, reflective exercises, and simple between-session practices that help you develop new skills, test solutions, and create lasting change.
- Above all, I value authenticity, curiosity, and a sense of ease. By incorporating metaphor, creativity, and appropriate humour, I aim to create a supportive environment where change feels both possible and sustainable.
